Tim Babbage - General Manager / Owner
There’s only one thing Tim loves more than drilling… it’s Manchester United.
Tim’s been around forever. He gets a little more excited about drilling fluids than seems reasonable, given he runs a business that imports dirt. Tim’s the go-to for oil and gas, geothermal and directional drilling - focusing on drilling fluid solutions and tooling.
He’s highly motivated, knowledgeable and genuinely cares - about our customers, and the Blick team. You’ll find him in our Hamilton office, at F45, or grabbing a coffee.

Jon Speedy - Sales Director / Owner
Known to take on the hottest curries, Jon brings positive competition to the team. Ask him how far he can throw a wrench (it’s further than Tim)...
Jon is our Sales Director and deals with the mineral coring, waterwell and directional drilling markets from Christchurch.
He builds strong relationships, has great technical knowledge, and always makes time to help.

Shaun Tubb - Operations Manager / Owner

Shaun is our Operations Manager - with a vision and the tech skills to deliver it. He’s relentlessly dissatisfied - if there’s an innovative, effective way of doing something - he will find it.

Clay Adams - Technical Sales Manager
Bits, (mountain) biking, and banter. Clay can talk about drilling fluids all day long.
Clay serves the North Island markets as our Technical Sales Manager. Clay leads the tunnelling and construction side and works with customers on HDD, waterwell and geotech.
He loves understanding how things work, thinking about the bigger picture, and producing a great result.
If he’s not on site, you’ll find him catching a wave or up a mountain.

Chris Thomas - Procurement Manager
There’s a reason Lulu (Clay’s dog) hangs out in Chris’ office. He’s full of good energy, positivity and is incredibly loyal.

Michael Tubb - Logistics Manager (New Zealand)
Mighty Mike maims massive meals of meat (cause he used to be a butcher). Happiest when wearing his Blick bucket hat & hunting for marlin.
If you need a pallet of Max Gel loaded onto your truck, Mike’s your man. Frequently found in the forklift - you won’t find a Logistics Manager with better banter. He takes pride in his work, gets on well with customers, and has a great sense of humour.

As our Finance Manager - Nisha wrangles accountants while managing Forex and cashflow. She can raise a purchase order in 3.8 seconds, and is always willing to help.

Blick began as Australasian Diamond Tools - with a focus on manufacturing equipment for the diamond coring industry.
2005
New owners, a lot to learn, and a need to shift the business; from manufacturing, to import and distribution.
2008
New name, manufacturing side sold, and a new focus; expanding to cover all aspects of the drilling industry.
2018
Some of the original owners were bought out, and a new business partner was brought in.
New mission; we achieve success through helping contractors achieve success.
