Swell Stop (Dry)
Dry PHPA polymer stabilises boreholes, reduces fluid loss, and enhances cuttings encapsulation and hole cleaning.
APPLICATIONS
Swell Stop is a high molecular weight PHPA Polymer. It efficiently achieves results in oil and gas, geothermal, waterwell, HDD, diamond coring, tunnelling, piling, and construction applications.
Swell Stop helps diamond coring by stabilising the wellbore and reducing fluid loss. It forms a layer on the borehole walls, preventing issues like shale swelling and breakage, which leads to smoother drilling and better core recovery.
When used in a Bentonite-free piling system, it creates high viscosity and, through viscous drag, provides a stable borehole when run at appropriate volumes and with a positive head. It maintains no carrying capacity, so with time, cuttings will settle, making clean-outs more efficient. You need to be cautious of surge and swab impacts at high viscosity.
It can be chemically broken down with sodium hypochlorite. Use 1L/1,000L in a 13% solution to break down the product.

RECOMMENDED TREATMENT
Typical concentrations range from 0.5kg to 3kg/m3 (0.18 to 1.05 lb/bbl). Add slowly through the hopper.
TOXICITY AND HANDLING
Handle as an industrial chemical, wearing protective equipment and observing the precautions described in the Saftey Data Sheet (SDS).
PACKAGING AND STORAGE
Swell Stop Dry is in 15kg pails.
Store in a dry, well-ventilated area. Follow safe warehousing practices regarding palletising, banding, shrink-wrapping and stacking.
